Job
Summary:
To
carry out job site plant installation and to contract specifications.
Also, hire, supervise, train and review crew personnel.
Hiring Process:
Must
have two years formal college education, or four years landscape
work experience; one year in a supervisory capacity, valid CDL
drivers license, and working knowledge of construction procedures,
tools, equipment and plant material.
Supervisor: Landscape Manager.
Responsibilities:
1.
Interview, hire and complete all paperwork for laborers and
Assistants, and turn into the office on a daily basis.
2. Hire and train a supervisor trainee so that production can
continue while the supervisor is performing other duties.
3. Plan, organize and hold training programs for employees so
they'll know exactly what is expected of them and complete performance
tracking sheets.
4. Become familiar with Company Policy and enforce it on a daily
basis.
5. Report all accidents by filling out accident reports and
turning into the office on the day of the accident.
6. Complete termination and layoff forms as necessary and turn
in on a daily basis.
7. Maintain a good working relationship with your crew.
8. Control all overtime by monitoring labor hours and by hiring
a laborer to rotate between the landscape crews and utility
crews.
9. Schedule work on schedule board weekly and update daily as
needed. Maintain weekly record of completed schedule.
10. Upon receipt of job folder, locate all materials at or below
the proposed price, and submit purchase/check request prior
to the Tuesday Purchasing meeting. If unable to find the material
within the budgeted price, then submit a purchase request for
the least expensive price for discussion and approval during
the Purchasing meeting. It should be noted on the request that
the materials are over budget.
11. When emergency purchases are necessary, "walk"
the purchase order/check request through the system physically
or by paging the appropriate people.
12. After the purchase approval, the supervisor will place the
order and arrange for delivery or pickup. deliveries are to
be scheduled early in morning or late in the afternoon when
the crew is at the office.
13. Control cost overruns by purchasing materials at or below
proposed cost and by efficient and effective management of the
job.
14. Keep lines of communication open with the sales coordinator
and crew persons.
15. Communicate with client on any schedule changes as they
will effect performance production at the job site.
16. Inspect the job site thoroughly to insure all work was performed
properly with a QCS rating of r".
17. Keep accurate records of materials used and hours charged
to the job on job cost sheets, along with the purchase order
files.
18. Establish and maintain a good working relationship with
the clients through update status of work and visitation reports.
19. Upon completion of the job, the supervisor is to walk the
job with the client so that the Completion Report can be signed
and discrepancies can be addressed.
20. Check equipment on a daily basis. Do minor repairs as needed.
21. Tag all broken equipment and turn into shop, advise sales
coordinator if down equipment causes delays.
22. Perform and supervise preventative maintenance to all trucks
and equipment for the Landscape division on a regular basis
as noted by monthly inspections.
23. Bi-monthly inventory of materials to be taken. If necessary,
purchase orders will be filled out to maintain a minimum inventory.
24. Bi-monthly inventory of small tools to be taken to ensure
that all jobs will run smoothly.
25. On the current groundscare sites, estimate verticutting,
seeding, irrigation and other additional work when necessary.
26. Develop a TEAM ATTITUDE to make LILC the efficient and quality
oriented landscape contractor in the Greater Washington D.C.
Metropolitan area.
